June 2019 Utah Trip – Lake Tahoe, California

We’re off to Sugar Pine Point State Park on the west side of Lake Tahoe to camp with Angela, Steve and Nick. To break up the trip this time, we visited Jessie’s Grove, a Harvest Hosts site. A beautiful, small, vineyard near Lodi, California. As part of Harvest Hosts, the stay is free, with an expectation to purchase something from the host. With such excellent wine, it was not hard to do!

Sugar Pine Point SP was beautiful again, one of our Lake Tahoe favorites. We had beautiful hikes and even saw a young bear! The lake was high and the he mountains still had snow. Enjoy some images.

March Trip To Arizona – Sedona

From Cave Creek, we went north to Sedona, higher and colder but it was beautiful. They have been having snow and rain but the weather cooperated for our time there. We visited Jot and Linda in their beautiful new home. They are friends from the Central Coast California Airstream Unit, who recently moved to Sedona from California. Although we’ve stayed in Sedona several other times, we found some beautiful new hikes in the hills above the city. It has rained a lot this winter at home, I’m not really complaining because we need the rain, but the nice weather in Arizona was a welcome change and we missed 5 inches of rain in SLO while we were traveling.

March Trip To Arizona – Phoenix & Cave Creek

The next stop was a visit with Judy’s brother Ron in Phoenix where we stayed at the  El Mirage RV Resort again. Judy’s niece Pam and her husband Scott were staying at Ron’s house so it was good to touch bases with everyone.

Cave Creek Regional County Park, near Carefree, north of Scottsdale, was next. The campground was beautiful, large spaces in the Saguaros, and great hiking. It was the first time we stayed at Cave Creek, but we’ll go there again. Pam, Scott, and Jenny came to our camp one afternoon for a hike in the desert.

December at Kirk Creek NFS Campground

For our December camping this year, we took off up the California Coast to the Kirk Creek NFS campground, about 80 miles from SLO. We last visited Kirk Creek NFS campground on the beautiful the Big Sur Coast of California several years ago. Kirk Creek, along with Plaskett Creek, have been our favorites for many years, camping with our kids and grandchildren. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon to beautiful blue sky and enjoyed the high surf crashing next to the campground and stayed for three nights.

The second day was overcast, but very pleasant temperatures until evening when the predicted rains started with drizzle. Then, it rained hard all night, with the noise from the large waves overpowered the rain!

The day after the rain was clear and beautiful. We hiked one of our favorite hikes from the campground, Vincente Flat Trail.

Enjoy our photos!
