Revelstoke, BC, Canada

Judy and I left Lu and Joe and headed west through the Canadian Rockies to Revelstoke. The trip was beautiful, through high mountain passes, along rivers, and along huge lakes that stretched for miles. We stayed in a funky, tight, but very clean RV park in a residential area about a mile from the downtown. Most of the people just stayed a night, we stayed two to explore the area.

Here are images from the campground, town center, and our bike ride into the countryside.

Lake Louise in Banff National Park, BC, Canada

We left Radium with the weather getting cooler, actually colder the closer we got to Lake Louise. The drive was beautiful with new snow on the mountain tops and showers lower.

image

The campground was large with two sites together and lots of space between. There were showers when we arrived but not enough to slow us down Β much.

The next day was overcast, spitting rain, but nice for hiking.

We started at Lake Louise and hiked 5 1/2 miles to the tea house at Lake Agnes, a 1,300 ft. climb with beautiful views and cold winds!

Later that day we drove to Moraine Lake and hiked along the shore.

The following day the weather changed again, it’s the mountains, and we had sunny and warm conditions. Before heading to Takakkaw Falls, we stopped by Lake Louise for a sunny image.

Takakkaw Falls in in Yoho National Park, a 30 minute drive from Lake Louise. We hiked from Takakkaw to Laughing Falls, a couple hours up,the trail. Here are some images from the hike.

On to Radium Hot Springs, BC, Canada

Off we went early the next morning for Radium Hot Springs. The day started smokey but cleared the closer we got to Canada. We made it through customs quickly with our bottles of California Wine for Steve and Donna.

The Canadian Rockies are sure beautiful and rugged.Β Our digs were fancier than we were used to but walking distance to Steve and Donna’s place.

We explored the area for the next week… a great time at the Bremer’s!

Lake Mary Ronan State Park

Getting caught up…

image

From here we traveled north to Lake Mary Ronan State Park, a lakeside park south of Kalispell, Montana. It is near the very large Flathead Lake to the east. The two days we were there, there was a lot of smoke in the area from the numerous fires to the west. At the campsite, the smoke wasn’t too bad, a beautiful place to spend a couple of days.

Willard Bay State Park and Missoula, Montana

We are in Missoula, Montana today, errands, fill LP, etc. nice downtown and river bike paths. We are at a KOA, serviceable. πŸ˜‰ I won’t include an image of our camp, but the city and surrounding landscape is beautiful, a place to come back to.

We were in Willard Bay State Park yesterday, a nice park by freshwater bay, lots of birds and trails. Here is an imageΒ of our camp.

I had to throw in a fun image from our bedroom window at Cedar Breaks!

Cedar Breaks National Monument, Utah

image

Our next stop was to be an NFS Campground, Te-Ah near Cedar Breaks, but on our way there, the supposedly paved road (10 Miles) was a rough dirt road, wet from the rain showers. Time for plan B. We took off for the Cedar Breaks Campground and found a good site overlooking a meadow. This was the first time we had been to Cedar Breaks and it was a mini Bryce Canyon, at 10,500 feet in elevation!

image

We were there for the Wildflower Festival! There were so many different flowers, and they were so tall!

Kodachrome Basin State Park, Utah

image

This year we tried a new Utah State Park, Kodachrome Basin, east of Bryce Canyon National Park. It turned out to be a gem! Great, diverse hiking, wonderful facilities, and a setting that was hard to believe.

image

Here is our site, we were next to Angela, Steve, & Alex. Part of the campground has full hookups, welcome in the hot weather. The facilities were exceptionally clean with very nice showers.

Capital Reef National Park, Utah

image

We made it! This is one of our favorite National Parks! Water, orchards, beautiful hiking, and a great campground. We met Angela, Steve, and Alex there as we were setting up our camp.

Here we are watching a shower pass over after setting up the site.

The view from our site, not to bad!

Judy at the top of an overlook into the campground valley and orchards. We found some new places to hike this year too. It was hot and dry but it was a dry heat! πŸ˜‰

Next stop Kodachrome State Park, Utah.

Richfield, Utah

image

From Las Vegas, we headed for Richfield, Utah on Interstate 70. We’ve found that when finding the ideal spot πŸ˜‰ in a first come campground like Capital Reef National Park, getting there before noon is important. So, the Richfield KOA is a convenient place to stage before heading to Capital Reef. The KOA is in a residential area too, so we can walk to the downtown for a bite to eat.
