Nova Scotia, Canada Trip – The Canadian Prairies to Minnesota

The Canadian Prairies to Minnesota

We left Radium Hot Springs and took off east for the Canadian Prairies. Steve suggested we take the south route, to Cranbrook, Highway 3 to Fernie, Crowsnest Pass, Franklin Slide, Fort MacLeod, and on to Medicine Hat where we stayed for the night. Along the way we saw the worlds biggest dump truck in Sparwood and the tallest teepee in Medicine Hat. Along the way, we toured Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO site. A very interesting place! http://www.history.alberta.ca/headsmashedin/

The next day we continued across the prairie to Moose Jaw where we stayed for the night. We toured the downtown tunnels used by the Chinese and later for liquor during the US prohibition. We also met with Marj and Len, Airstream friends who shared some wonderful homemade goodies with us.

More prairie was still ahead! We drove next to a KOA just outside Winnipeg for the night and on to John and Teri’s house on Crookneck Lake.

Nova Scotia, Canada Trip – Radium Hot Springs, BC

Radium Hot Springs, BC

In Radium Hot Springs we stayed in the Radium Valley Vacation Resort, a place with most sites owned and a few for us travelers. It is a short walk to Steve’s beautiful home. We hiked, visited Kootenay National Park. Below are some of our images while enjoying the beautiful landscape.

On The Way

On our trip to Radium Hot Springs, BC, Canada we stopped to Angela, Steve, Nick and Alex in Sparks, Nevada for a night. Our next stop was Farewell Bend State Park in Oregon, a beautiful location along the Snake River. From here we went to Spokane Valley, Washington for a night and then to Radium Hot Springs.

Nova Scotia, Canada Trip – The Start

The Start

We’re on the road again, on to Nova Scotia, Canada. We are going the long way, heading first to Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia to get together with Steve and Donna, Lu and Joe, and Dave and Nancy. Then across Canada, dropping into Minnesota to see John and Teri, up the North Shore of Lake Superior,  Montreal, Quebec City, and then on to Nova Scotia. We have reservations through Nova Scotia and we will wing it without reservations on our way back through Minnesota again and on to California.

As we were getting ready to go, actually two days before we left, I noticed fresh water leaking on the pavement. After checking for obvious places for water to come out, I called on Toscano RV Saturday morning and they said they could take a look Monday morning at 7:30! So, Sunday afternoon we parked in their “guest” lot waiting for Monday morning. Monday came, they found a leak and we were on the road again at 10:00! Talk about service! We are on our way!
